Náš doktorand Matěj Hušek absolvoval v akademickém roce 22/23 roční stáž na Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University pod vedením prof.
P-recovery versus current sewage sludge treatment policy in the Czech Republic and Japan. Clean Techn Environ Policy (odkaz).
Tento článek podrobně zkoumá rozdílné přístupy ke zpracování čistírenských kalů v České republice a Japonsku, a to v oblasti používaných technologií, kontroly polutantů, získávaných statistik, recyklace fosforu a zavedené legislativy.
V současné době Matěj nadále studuje mikropolutanty v čistírenských kalech, zejména per- a polyfluoroalkylové látky (PFAS) a zpomalovače hoření.

Successful internship at Kyoto University
In the academic year 22/23 our PhD student Matěj Hušek completed a one-year internship at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University under the supervision of Prof. Kazuyuki Oshita (profile) in the laboratory of Prof. Masaki Takaoka (profile) at the Department of Environmental Engineering (web). During this internship, Matej continued to work on his PhD thesis dealing with micropollutants in sewage sludge, focusing specifically on the Japanese context. The internship was brought to a successful conclusion with the publication of a paper:
P-recovery versus current sewage sludge treatment policy in the Czech Republic and Japan. Clean Techn Environ Policy (link).
This article details the different approaches to sludge treatment in the Czech Republic and Japan in terms of technologies, pollutant control, statistics, phosphorus recycling and legislation. It concludes that the full potential of phosphorus contained in sludge is not being exploited and is not being recovered in a clean, uncontaminated form.
Matej is currently continuing his work on micropollutants in sewage sludge, in particular per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and flame retardants. This work is carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Chemical Processes at CAS, the Institute of Microbiology at CAS (specifically with Professor Cajthaml's group) and the Department of Environmental Engineering at Kyoto University in Professor Oshita's group.
Matěj was awarded the Emil Votoček Scholarship for outstanding achievements in science in recognition of his significant publication activity.
