Analysis of solid fuels, biofuels, waste and other samples from the energy sector

The group is focused on supporting the research part of the department and offers the support activity represented by the example and points below.

Within the analysis of solid samples, procedures are developed resulting in rapid and accurate determination of all necessary constituents. Based on the known composition, for example, an environmentally clean and efficient method of waste disposal by incineration or landfill can be determined. Analysis is carried out on solid, liquid and paste wastes, on aqueous leachates of wastes and on incineration certificates for incinerators, cement plants, etc.

  • comprehensive analysis of samples from the energy sector, including risk assessment (erosion, corrosion underneath the deposit) to increase the lifetime of operating facilities
  •  water and ash (including total ash analysis), ash fusibility
  •  fugitive and non-fugitive combustibles
  • heat of combustion and calorific value
  • flash point
  •  total decomposition of solid materials
  •  leachability tests
  • anions: fluorides, chlorides, nitrites, bromides, nitrates, phosphates, sulphates
  •  atomic absorption or emission: K, Na, Ca, Mg, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, Cr, Ni, Co, Mn, Fe, Co, ...
  •  optical emission spectrometer: all elements can be determined except He, O, F, Cl, At, noble gases, actinides and C, N, Br and Hg are difficult to determine
